If you are a homeowner or business owner, you know how much of an investment it can be to have a new roof installed. A good roof installed correctly by professionals can last you well over a decade. For this reason, it’s important to make sure that you not only have the right professionals completing the job but that you’re protected by a warranty as well.
Most roofing companies will have a few warranty options for you to choose from when you decide to invest in a new roof, and Interstate Roofing is no exception. We offer warranty options to customers that can give you the reassurance that you’ll be covered for potential issues should they arise. Here are a few options that you’ll have with an Interstate warranty.
What Are Warranties?
When you have a new roof installed, it’s important to look into what kind of warranty options are available to you. A warranty is a written guarantee that can protect you should you ever run into issues with your roof that require either the company that installed it or the manufacturer to correct a mistake or fix a problem. At Interstate Roofing, there are two types of warranties you can choose from: Steep Slope Roofing Limited Workman’s Warranties and extended manufacturer’s warranties. Each will provide you with a different, but also quite handy, warranty option. Having these options available to you can potentially save you a lot of money.
Limited workman warranties are warranties created to provide customers with coverage if an error is made through workmanship or installation. This can include material errors that occur as a direct result of an error by a workman. Should this be the case, your warranty would cover your roof from this issue through the amount of time you signed the warranty for.
The other type of warranty offered is a manufacturer’s warranty. While most materials come with a standard warranty, the extended manufacturer’s warranty provides added coverage on those materials to give owners even more value on their roof. This kind of warranty is only offered by authorized contractors that are certified to complete the roof installation based on the guidelines provided by the manufacturer themselves. It ensures that the materials used and the installation will live up to the expectations they claim.
Interstate Roofing has been able to earn the highest level of certification from the top three roofing companies: Certainteed, GAF, and Owens Corning. This gives Interstate the ability to offer all three major manufacturers’ top-tier extended warranties.
How Long Are They Good For?
The length of your warranty refers to how long you’ll be covered should there ever be a problem. The longer your warranty period, the longer you’ll be covered. At Interstate Roofing, there are a variety of warranty options to choose from, each lasting for a different number of years. For instance, Steep Slope Roofing Limited Workmanship Warranties has three options of lengths for you to choose from: 5, 10, and 15 years. Each option has different requirements and exclusions to best suit your needs.
What Is Included in Each Warranty?
The five-year options for Steep Slope Roofing Limited Workmanship Warranties are offered for two different roofing selections. They included pitches up to 4/12 and pitches greater than or equal to 4/12. For pitches up to 4/12, a five-year warranty includes tear-off, double-layer felt, ice and water shield (IWS) at penetrations as well as flashing replacements. For pitches of 4/12 or greater, there are a few differences. These five-year warranties include tear-offs but don’t require IWS. They do however cover flashing replacements.
The 10- and 15-year warranty options for the limited workmanship warranties have slightly different offerings. At Interstate Roofing, these warranty lengths are only available for pitches of 4/12 and greater. These options both include flashing replacements and tear-offs. The difference between the two, aside from their length, is that IWS is not required for a 10-year warranty but is required for a 15-year warranty. Professionals can assist you in choosing which roofing warranty option is best for you based on the type of roofing you have installed and your specific needs.
The other warranty option offered at Interstate Roofing is the Extended Manufacturer’s Warranty. This warranty option is offered through a partnership with the top three roofing manufacturers and is offered on a tiered system. Because of Interstate’s good standing with Certainteed, GAF, and Owens Corning, we’re able to offer all three tier options to all of our customers. The three tiers for each manufacturer are Good, Better, and Best. Each option comes with a heightened level of warranty protection depending on your specific needs, with the Good options being the most basic level of protection and the Best options including the most coverage possible. Is Anything Required of Me to Have This Warranty?
Other than signing up for your warranty after having your roofing installed, there’s just one thing you need to do to hold up your end of the bargain. This is typically required of you by any professional company you have your roofing installed with. In order to sustain your Interstate warranty, regular roofing maintenance must be done.
Though this maintenance doesn’t have to be done professionally, having it done by a roofing contractor is strongly encouraged. A regular maintenance agreement can be designed specifically for customers who want to keep their roof looking its best while prolonging the life of the roof. It also provides the option to have priority in service if ever a leak occurs, which can make a big difference when it comes to potential water damage. Having your maintenance done by the same company your warranty is with can also help you to build a relationship with your roofing professionals and allow them to be familiar with your specific roof should it ever need serious fixing.
